Youth Aviation Day: 05/13/17
At Youth Aviation Day our club set up a static display at the Dare County Regional Airport of a number of our model aircraft our members brought to educate the public about radio control model aviation.
In addition to our aircraft display, we also provided information about our club,the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and handed-out balsa-wood gliders to the children. With special permission, our club president, Jim Davis, then performed two flight demonstrations with his "Mini Pulse."
We completed our great day of fun in the sun with a cookout of hot dogs and hamburgers for our members who attended.
National Aviation Day: 08/19/15
Dare County Radio Control Flyers setup a static display of some of our club's model airplanes at National Aviation Day at the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills.
Our display gave visitors the opportunity to see our aircraft up close and in different stages of construction, and included information about our club and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
We handed-out balsa gliders to our younger visitors, and spent the day enjoying our interaction with the public. Unfortunately, our plan to perform a few demonstration flights was grounded in the interest of safety due to brisk wind conditions.
Youth Aviation Day: 05/09/15
As a public education initiative, members of Dare County Radio Control Flyers set up a static display of model aircraft at the Dare County Regional Airport in Manteo to celebrate Youth Aviation Day.
This event has been quite popular in the past, so attending this event afforded us an opportunity to promote our club and its activities, as well as those of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
